Privacy Policy
How BitPilot collects, uses, and protects your information
Last updated: January 20261 Information We Collect
BitPilot is designed with privacy as a core principle. We collect the minimum amount of data necessary to provide our services.
- Browser LocalStorage: Your portfolio data, holdings, and preferences are stored exclusively in your browser's LocalStorage. This data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to our servers.
- Usage Data: We may collect anonymous, aggregated usage statistics (such as which pages are visited) via Cloudflare Web Analytics. This data cannot be used to identify individual users.
- API Request Data: When you use our tools, API requests are made on your behalf to public data providers (such as CoinGecko). These requests may log your IP address by the data provider's own privacy policy.
- No Account Required: BitPilot does not require registration or account creation. We do not collect email addresses, names, or any personally identifiable information.
💡 Important: We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with any third parties for marketing purposes.
2 How We Use Your Information
Any information collected is used solely for the following purposes:
- Providing and maintaining our crypto portfolio tracking and market data tools
- Displaying real-time cryptocurrency prices, market data, and fear & greed indices
- Improving website performance, user experience, and feature development
- Ensuring website security and preventing abuse
- Complying with legal obligations where required
3 Cookies & Tracking Technologies
BitPilot uses minimal tracking technologies:
- Essential Cookies: We may use essential session cookies for security and basic site functionality. These are necessary for the website to operate.
- Cloudflare Analytics: Our website uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is privacy-first and does not use cookies or tracking scripts that collect personal data. It respects Do Not Track signals.
- No Advertising Cookies: We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or any third-party tracking for advertising purposes.
You can manage your cookie preferences through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect some site functionality.
4 Third-Party Services & Data Providers
BitPilot integrates with the following third-party services:
- CoinGecko API: We proxy market data requests through our server to the CoinGecko API. Please refer to CoinGecko's Privacy Policy at coingecko.com for how they handle your data.
- Alternative.me (Fear & Greed Index): We fetch fear & greed index data from Alternative.me. Their data handling is governed by their own privacy policy.
- Cloudflare: Our website is protected by Cloudflare, which processes traffic data according to Cloudflare's Privacy Policy. Cloudflare may log IP addresses for security purposes.
- GitHub Pages / Hosting Provider: Our static files are served through our hosting provider, which may log standard server access logs.
5 Affiliate Links
BitPilot may contain affiliate links to cryptocurrency exchanges and services. When you click on an affiliate link and sign up or make a transaction, we may receive a commission at no additional cost to you.
- Affiliate relationships do not influence our editorial content or tool recommendations
- Affiliate links are clearly disclosed on relevant pages
- Affiliate commissions do not affect the data or tools we provide
The privacy practices of affiliate partners are governed by their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review their policies before providing any information.
6 Data Security
We take data security seriously and implement the following measures:
- SSL/TLS encryption for all data in transit (HTTPS)
- Security headers including Content-Security-Policy, X-Frame-Options, and HSTS
- Cloudflare DDoS protection and web application firewall
- Regular security reviews and dependency updates
- Minimal data collection — the most sensitive data (portfolio holdings) stays entirely in your browser
While we strive to protect your data, no internet transmission is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, but we continuously improve our security posture.
7 Your Rights
Because BitPilot stores data locally in your browser (not on our servers), you have direct control over your data:
- Access: You can view all data stored in your browser's LocalStorage at any time through developer tools
- Delete: You can clear your LocalStorage data anytime through browser settings or our in-app controls
- Portability: You can export your portfolio data as JSON for backup or migration
- Opt-out: You can disable Cloudflare Analytics by enabling Do Not Track in your browser
- Data Requests: Since we don't collect personal data, we have minimal data about you to provide — but contact us if you have concerns
For GDPR/CCPA requests or privacy inquiries, please contact us using the details below. We will respond within 30 days.
8 Children's Privacy
BitPilot is not intended for children under the age of 18 (or the minimum legal age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us immediately and we will take steps to remove that information.
9 Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or legal requirements. When we make material changes:
- We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page
- For significant changes, we will provide a prominent notice on our website
- Your continued use of BitPilot after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy
